Mitragyna javanica - Similar to and yet different from Kratom
While Mitragyna javanica has a similar appearance to the Mitragyna speciosa (commonly known as Kratom), there are huge differences in their chemistry. Other than the speciosa member of the Rubiaceae family, javanica does not contain the main active substances mitragynine and ajmalicine, but related substances called mitrajavine and large amounts of 3-isoajmalicine.
The biggest advantage for users in Southeast Asia: It is legal! Mitragyna javanica may be the cousin of speciosa, alas there are almost no pharmacological reports available, but as far as we know the produced effect is less intense and does not last nearly as long as traditional Kratom.
How to use Mitragyna javanica To prepare a tea, take 10-20 grams for one cup of hot water and let the concoction steep for 30 minutes. The slowly drink the brew over the course of 30 minutes.
