Nirvana Seeds: Feminized Cannabis Seeds and Fast Autos

Nirvana sits in the older half of the cannabis seeds world, and the shelf splits cleanly in two. On one side, the nineties workhorses that were bred to be forgiving, with Northern Light the obvious reference point. On the other, the newer dessert lines built around Gelato and Gorilla Glue crosses. Knowing which camp a pack belongs to tells you most of what you need before you germinate anything, including the THC percentage range you can reasonably expect from it.

The Paper Trail Behind the Names

Bubble Gum took the long way round

Bubblelicious started life as Bubble Gum in Indiana, stopped over in New England, and came to the Netherlands to be refined. A second line was smuggled over in the nineties and stabilised across many generations. Unusually, it wasn't crossed out with other genetics to fix it, it was crossed back into itself. The smell is the giveaway: pink bubble gum straight out of the wrapper, sweet enough that people sniff the jar twice. Flowering runs 8-10 weeks with 400-500 g/m² in a SOG, and the pack is feminized like everything else on this shelf. Watch out for the stretch. Most plants stay short to medium, but the sativa phenotypes will shoot up on you.

Bay Area landraces, Cheech and Chong, and one Cannabis Cup

Hawaii Maui Waui Auto goes back to a Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Jamaican mix first bred in the Bay Area in the early 1970s, the same Maui Waui that Cheech and Chong made famous. The auto version finishes its whole life cycle in about 75 days and still smells of pineapple, mango and melon. AK48 comes from similar stock, a Colombian Gold x Thai x Mexican x Afghani cross that flowers in 7-9 weeks at 14-16% THC with some CBD in the mix. That Afghani side is why our customers keep buying it for rough outdoor spots. Northern Light belongs to the same forgiving generation, an indica-leaning classic that indoor growers have relied on for decades and that still turns up in the background of newer crosses. As for silverware, Nirvana's Ice took a prize at the 1998 Cannabis Cup. One thing worth clearing up: Nirvana Seeds and Gypsy Nirvana are two different names in the seed world, and everything on this shelf is Nirvana Seeds.

Choosing a Pack and Getting It Going

Auto or photoperiod, that's the real decision

Photoperiod Gelato reaches 120-150cm indoors, flowers in 8-10 weeks, gives 450-550 g/m² in a SOG and sits around 20% THC, with buds that turn purple and magenta under orange pistils. Gelato Auto is done 8-9 weeks from germination at up to 22% THC, so you trade some control for speed. That fixed timeline comes from the ruderalis genetics in autoflowering lines, which flower on their own clock instead of waiting for you to flip the light schedule. Both are dessert lines with THC figures close together, so if you want a sativa on this shelf instead, look at Durban Poison. She flowers in 8-9 weeks, up to 450 g/m², 15% THC, sweet and earthy with a hit of anise, and she finishes fast for a sativa. She does stretch hard, long stems and wide internodes, so give her headroom. Hash makers should look at GG-48 Auto instead: 10 weeks seed to harvest, 100-120cm, 500-600 g/m² and 23-28% THC on a plant that drips resin.

Packs, storage and what lands in your letterbox

Every pack here is feminized, labelled with the strain name and the breeder, so there's no guessing which envelope holds what once you've got a few. The feminized versus regular seeds debate barely comes up on this shelf, because there are no regular packs to weigh up and no males to spot and pull halfway through flowering. Keep them cool, dark and dry in the original pack, and they'll stay viable far longer than seeds rattling around a kitchen drawer. To germinate, fold them into a damp paper towel in a warm dark spot, then plant them taproot down once it shows, about 1cm deep. Orders ship fast and discreetly, with nothing on the outside naming what's inside. If you're only buying one pack this season and you have a balcony rather than a tent, AK48 is the safer bet than Gelato.
