The 6mm hole allows you to perfectly fit a classic rolling cigarette filter, and therefore use a bong with a cigarette, which is more practical and clean than putting the smoking material directly into it, even with a screen. Personally, I now use it alone, adding cotton to the non-conical part to improve filtration. Perfect!
