How to pick a weed scale you can trust
What precision actually means
Every scale on this page works the same way under the hood: a load cell measures how much the platform flexes and turns that into a number. Two specs describe the result. Capacity is the most it can weigh, readability (or resolution) is the smallest step it can show. A 100 x 0.01 g scale weighs up to 100 grams in steps of a hundredth of a gram.
Here's the trade-off nobody mentions: the finer the readability, the smaller the capacity. That's why a milligram scale like the Fuzion Bio reads to 0.001 g but tops out at just 20 grams.
Match the scale to the job
Portioning flower? A 100 g pocket scale at 0.01 g covers you, and honestly most people never need more. The On Balance Myco and the Shine Chrome Gold both fit in a jacket pocket, and the Shine's mirror-polished lid makes it the one we'd gift.
Microdosing asks for finer steps. At doses under 0.1 g, a 0.01 g scale leaves too much room for error, so go milligram. For concentrates there's the 710-Pro kit, which comes with weighing papers and a spatula.

Tare and calibration in three steps
Tare is the button you'll press most: put your weighing cup on, hit tare, and the display zeroes so you only weigh what goes in. Calibration keeps the whole thing honest, and it's quick:
- Set the scale on a hard, level surface and let it settle.
- Enter calibration mode (usually holding the CAL or MODE key).
- Place a calibration weight on the platform and wait for the confirmation.
Do this monthly, or any time the scale has taken a knock. Cheap scales don't drift because they're cheap, they drift because nobody calibrates them.

0.01 g readability is the sweet spot for flower. It shows the difference between 0.25 g and 0.3 g, which a kitchen scale simply can't. Only microdosers need to step up to a 0.001 g milligram scale.
- Can I use a kitchen scale to weigh weed?
Not really. Kitchen scales round to the nearest gram and get unreliable below 5 g, which is exactly the range you care about. A pocket scale with 0.01 g readability is built for it.
- How do I calibrate a digital scale?
