What is TICAL, and what does it stand for?

TICAL is a cannabis brand co-founded by Clifford Smith, better known as Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan. He has been asked what the acronym means often enough, and on record he gives one answer: Taking Into Consideration All Lives. The brand takes its name from his solo debut album, released on Def Jam Recordings on 15 November 1994. That record was the first solo album by any Wu-Tang Clan member and reached number four on the Billboard 200; its single with Mary J. Blige went on to win a Grammy in 1996. The cannabis brand launched in California in June 2020, and its stated mission is to put Black-, minority- and women-owned partners at the front of the supply chain.

Why these seeds are only here

In June 2025 TICAL and Zamnesia announced an exclusive partnership covering Europe and the United States. Method Man put it plainly at the time: he does not put his name on just anything. What that means for you is simple, if slightly unusual for a celebrity brand: this is the only place the seeds are sold. The strains are a curated, artist-approved selection rather than an in-house breeding programme, which is worth knowing if you are comparing them against a traditional seed bank.

The strains and their strength

Five of the nine publish a THC figure. The rest are described by flavour and effect instead, and we have left it that way rather than invent numbers.

Method Mac is the one carrying his name, a citrus-forward take on the MAC family with a clear, creative buzz. Shaolin Spritzer nods to Wu-Tang's name for Staten Island and leans on limonene and pinene. Grape Gorilla Gas is the sweet-and-fuel one, berry over diesel. Spazzola Garletti is the resin machine, built for anyone pressing concentrates, and La-La-La Log Cabin runs pineapple and cookie dough.

Every strain here is feminized, so there are no males to cull. As a group they are forgiving: several are described as resilient to stress, and a few, like Rugged Runtz, have sparse foliage and wide internodal spacing that keeps airflow easy and trimming quick.
