Zamnesia - Opuntia invicta: A Central American Native With Stunning Features
Opuntia invicta is a compact cactus variety growing to max heights of 50cm. Rather than growing upward, Opuntia invicta forms thick mats across the ground that can reach a width of up to 200cm. Key to the cacti’s charm is the club-like tubercles with big, white, and woolly areoles. Unlike other Opuntia varieties, Opuntia invicta develops thick, awe-inspiring spines that boast stunning shades of pink, purple and red before turning grey and black. For more low-growing, heavily spined cacti to raise from scratch, there is a 20-seed pack of Cacti Mix (Ferocactus wislizeni) Seeds.
Between April and May, Opuntia invicta flowers, producing astonishing yellow blossoms measuring roughly 5cm in width and featuring reddish acicular spines at their centre. Get your Opuntia invicta cutting today and add this stunning variety to your cactus collection. Our Cactus Nutrient is the feed we stock for spiny growers like this one. Fancy adding more? Browse the whole spread of rooted cacti and 20-seed packs.
Note: Unlike some other cacti on our webshop, Opuntia invicta does not contain mescaline.
