Blue Widow is a cross between the highly appreciated strains of Blueberry and White Widow. The high THC and decent CBD content offer a wide range of application of recreational highs and medicinal treatments. The genetics offer the rich aromas of pine and citrus along with the stunning taste of sweet berries.

Blue Widow is an indica-dominant hybrid feminised by Dinafem. The strain is the love child of the delicious Blueberry crossed with the legendary White Widow. This impressive combination has resulted in a plant that offers big yields, phenomenal tastes and hard hitting highs. Blue Widow enters the realms of both recreation and medication, equipped with high levels of THC that offer a therapeutic high and decent levels of CBD that offer medicinal relief. This mix of cannabinoids allows for substantial pain relief and muscular relaxation coupled with a nice cerebral psychotropic high that will leave the smoker feeling giggly, euphoric and relaxed.

Blue Widow is nothing short of a genetic beast. Such a trait allows the strain to adapt to an array of conditions; the strain has an impressive resilience to environmental stress in the forms of cold temperatures, moisture and damaging mould growth. On top of this, Blue Widow pumps out some rather large buds that are decorated with a slight purple colour when grown in colder conditions. This occurrence will leave your bowls looking like a decorative herbal display.

We planted Blue Widow ourselves to really get a first-hand experience of just how majestic this plant looks and how well the large buds smoke. After starting the seeds, we transferred them into our soil mix and started a 16 hours on and 12 hours off light cycle that saw the plants sufficiently through the vegetative phase of their short life cycle.

During the flowering phase we used a 12 hours on and 12 hours off light cycle, along with some pruning and topping in order to maximise yield. Shortly into the flowering phase, we saw impressive and rapid growth along with the formation of shiny trichomes that gave the buds a crystalline appearance and made us aware that cannabinoid production was in full swing.

It was time to harvest after Blue Widow’s flowering time of 55 days. After a good flush, we started the procedure of harvesting of crop and hung our herb to dry. Our indoor plants kicked out a high yield. Those growing outdoors can expect a yield of 800-1200g per plant.

Blue Widow emits a strong and pungent aroma that gives off the scent of both citrus and pine. Entering a grow space containing Blue Widow is a delight to the senses. Accompanying such a pleasurable scent are tastes that range anywhere from that of bubblegum, all the way to the sensation of sweet and fruity berries that has obviously been carried over from the Blueberry’s side of the genetic family tree.

Blue Widow is high in the psychoactive cannabinoid THC, achieving ranges of between 12-16 percent. This THC quantity is also accompanied by moderate levels of the medicinal cannabinoid CBD. The psychoactive effects of Blue Widow range from energising, euphoric and focus enhancing to the enjoyable states of giggles, happiness and relaxation. Blue Widow is also said to be a medicinal strain that may help with certain gastrointestinal disorders, chronic pain and arthritis. The relaxing element to the high may be of great use to those who find it hard to achieve a full night's sleep or who suffer from cases of insomnia. The pain reducing effects of smoking bowls or blunts of this strain may similarly help to ease the pain of migraines and arthritis.
