Marc Emery, the Prince of Pot, who is currently serving a five year sentence in a medium security prison in Mississippi seems to have found a rock band to play with. On Wednesday he made a post on his Cannabis Culture magazine website in which he announced that he and four other inmates have formed a band called "Yazoo" (named after the slammer they are doing their time at, Yazoo City) in 2011.
In his post he mentions that he has been practicing playing the bass for three hours a day and now after 22 months it is paying off. He never in his life played an instrument prior to that and actually never thought he'd have a talent for it, but he said that he has a very good memory and a real desire to play.
The repertoire of the clink band is rather small, but Running Down a Dream by Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze, Black Magic Woman by Santana, and Thin Lizzy's Boys Are Back in Town are a good starting-point.
Jodie Emery, his wife and Vancouver West End Green Party candidate, said that Marc is expected to be released on July 9, 2014, but if the government approves his application to be transferred to a Canadian prison this September, he could be free by Christmas
