How To Make A Cannabis Smoothie

Fancy trying something a little different to the standard 'wake n bake' breakfast? Then a raw cannabis-infused smoothie might just be what you've been looking for - and here's how to make one (or rather two!)

According to a growing number of studies and medical research, cannabis and hemp can produce a number of exciting health benefits - from pain relief to fighting diabetes. However, most research has been done on the cannabinoids in their decarboxylated state - not in their acid form. A quick recap: As the cannabinoids are produced by the plant, they are in their acid form, meaning THC shows up as THCa, CBD as CBDa, and so forth. In the acid form, the cannabinoids are not psychoactive, it is only thorough the application of heat that they become active.

Wether cannabinoids in their acid form are equally therapeutically active as in their decarboxylated form remains disputed. One research team has found that THCa is even superior to THC in relieving pain, however, other research has found that CBDa is the least useful in fighting breast cancer (compared to CBD being the most active). At the same time, a number of people have reported success in treating various conditions with raw cannabis juice. Clearly, the jury is still out.

With that in mind, we bring to you two quick, simple and delicious raw smoothie recipes that will blow your mind, or not - depending on the recipe you chose.

#1 The way of the leaf (non-psychoactive)

Clear away those morning cobwebs with the power of cannabis (but in a smoother way). Combining the forces of raw cannabis leaf, hemp seed oil and hemp milk, this smoothie combines all the goodness of cannabis into one super drink to start your day off right.

Hemp milk is a great source of plant protein while also being dairy-free and (if you hadn't already noticed) is gluten free too. Last but not least (nutritionally that is), Hemp seeds: These wondrous seeds contain nourishing essential fatty acids, including Omega-3 and Omega-6, which help keep your brain activated and heart strong.

The Recipe
(Ingredients serving two people):

½ cup organic hemp milk
1 Tbsp organic hemp seeds
1 Tbsp organi cold pressed hemp seed oil
1 tsp organic flax seeds
½ cup organic green kale
¼ cup organic cucumber
2 slices organic cantaloupe
1 banana
Fresh raw cannabis (about 1/2 cup)

Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a blender. Add water and ice to taste. Blend until smooth, pour into a glass and enjoy!

Now if that wasn't enough to quench your 'buddy thirst', then how about trying a smoothie of the canna-coconut oil variety!?

#2 The way of the nut

For those of you wanting a smoothie with a psychoactive edge, our canna-coconut oil smoothie recipe should more than do the trick.
