There's not much a bit of mango, pineapple and banana can't fix. Blended with milk and a dose of kratom powder, they make a smoothie that tastes like a holiday and neatly hides the bitter, earthy edge kratom is known for. If you've tried kratom before and struggled with the taste, this recipe is the fix.
A kratom smoothie is exactly what it sounds like: a regular fruit smoothie with kratom blended in. Powdered kratom is the easiest form to work with, since it disappears straight into the liquid. Shredded leaf and liquid extracts can work too, but powder is the best place to start.

Taste, mostly. Kratom powder has what you could politely call an acquired taste, and sweet tropical fruit does a far better job of covering it than water ever will. You get everything the powder has to offer without wincing your way through it.
The effects are worth knowing about too. In smaller amounts, kratom tends to feel energising, a bit like a strong coffee. Larger amounts lean the other way, towards something calmer and more soothing, which is why some people keep bigger doses for the evening. Tolerance differs from person to person, so start small and adjust slowly until you know how it affects you.

There are around 15 different types of kratom on the market, harvested across Southeast Asia, each with its own vein colour and character depending on how long the leaves were aged. If you're not sure where to start, green maeng da is the most common strain out there and a reliable all-rounder. It's sold as a fine powder, which makes it ideal for smoothies. Do read up on your chosen strain before you blend it in, though; effects shift with both strain and dose.

The quantities are in the ingredients panel above, and the portion calculator will scale them for you. On the equipment side, all you need is a blender, a measuring cup and a spoon. From fruit bowl to first sip takes about five minutes.
Step 1: Pour the milk into the blender, add the tropical fruit, and pulse until everything is roughly combined.

Step 2: Add your dose of kratom powder and blend on a low setting, so the powder mixes in evenly instead of clinging to the sides.
Step 3: Keep blending until the mixture is completely smooth, then pour it into a glass and enjoy it fresh.

Treat this recipe as a starting point rather than a rulebook. Mango and pineapple give it a sharp, sweet bite; banana and coconut milk make it rich and creamy. A scoop of protein powder or some matcha fits in nicely if you want a little more from it.
And if even five minutes feels like effort, you can simply stir a dose of kratom powder into a shop-bought smoothie or fruit juice, or grab a ready-to-drink kratom shot and skip the blender entirely. It works with practically anything, as long as there's enough flavour to keep the bitterness in check.
The tropical blend is only one of six smoothies from our kratom kitchen. The other five follow the same simple logic, everything in the blender and the kratom powder last, and each brings something different to the glass.

For the sweet tooth. Blend one and a half tablespoons of cocoa powder, a teaspoon of cinnamon, two cups of milk and two cups of raw kale, then add two cups of fruit and blend on low before the kratom goes in. It drinks like dessert, and the kale stays completely out of sight. A white-vein powder such as Maeng Da White sits well in this one.

Blueberries do the heavy lifting here: three to four cups of them, poured gradually into two cups of milk while pulsing. Add one large chopped frozen banana, then the kratom, and blend until the whole thing turns deep violet. A scoop of protein powder is a welcome extra.

Forget avocado on toast. One ripe avocado, two cups of milk, a cup of frozen spinach, half a cup of frozen pineapple and a large frozen banana make a remarkably creamy base; finish with a squeeze of lime, a pinch of sea salt and your dose of kratom. Smooth, sharp and slightly addictive.

The chocolate version's richer cousin. To two cups of milk and a handful of kale, add a tablespoon of nut butter (peanut, cashew, almond and hazelnut all work), one and a half tablespoons of cocoa, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a banana. Blend with the kratom until silky. Sweet meets savoury, and it absolutely works.

The lightest of the lot. Swap the milk for one and a half cups of water, add two cups of frozen spinach and half a cup each of mango and pineapple, and blend the kratom in last. Fresh, green and about as close to a morning reset as a smoothie gets.
