Magic mushroom and truffle tea is one of the gentlest ways to consume psilocybin. Drinking the tea is easier on the stomach than chewing raw slices, since much of the nausea people experience comes from the tough, indigestible chitin in the fungi rather than the psilocybin itself. Brewing lets you extract the active compounds and leave the rest behind, for a smoother and more comfortable come-up.
This recipe follows a simple steeping method while keeping each step clear and beginner-friendly. The most important thing to remember is that psilocybin breaks down with heat, starting at around 70 °C, so the tea should never be boiled. Approach the brew with intention, create a relaxing environment, and give yourself time for the experience to unfold.
A traditional single serving uses one standard dose. If you are unsure how much to use, work it out with the Magic Mushroom & Truffle Dosage Calculator before you begin.

Rinse and cut the mushrooms: Give fresh mushrooms or truffles a quick rinse under cool water. Cut them into small pieces to increase the surface area, which helps the psilocybin extract more efficiently.

Boil and cool the water: Bring the water to the boil, then remove it from the heat and let it sit for a few minutes. You want it hot, not boiling. Water that is too hot will weaken your brew.
Steep the pieces: Place the cut pieces into a tea infuser or tea egg and pour the hot water over them. Let the mixture steep gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Unlike many herbal teas, this brew is steeped rather than simmered, to protect the delicate active compounds from heat.
Strain the tea: Pour the liquid through a strainer or cheesecloth into a fresh mug. Press the pieces lightly to release any remaining liquid.
Optional second brew: Return the same pieces to a cup, add more sub-boiling water, and steep again for another 10–15 minutes. Strain and combine with the first cup to make full use of your material.

Once you have the basic method down, it is easy to tailor your tea to your taste and to the kind of experience you are after. Here are three of our favourites:
Feel free to combine these or experiment with your own additions, such as a stick of cinnamon or a sprig of mint, as long as you keep the water below boiling.

Magic mushroom tea is best enjoyed fresh. If necessary, keep it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Reheat gently and never bring it to the boil, as heat degrades potency. Do not store for longer periods, as strength and flavour decline quickly.

Brewed with care and taken in a calm, familiar setting, tea gives you a smoother, more comfortable come-up than eating the fungi whole. Work out your dose before you start, keep the water below boiling, and give the effects a full hour before you decide whether to top up.
