Cannabis relieves back pain
At the recent annual meeting of the North American Spine Society’s, research teams from the University of Colorado presented findings that go some ways to show the benefits of cannabis consumption for sufferers of back pain. They found that 90% of those suffering from chronic back pain who used cannabis felt significant relief. Stating that, 81% of these users reported that it was a greater relief than gained from traditional narcotic strength pain killers.
This research, conducted by Michael Finn, MD, explained how they examining 184 patients at the Colorado Spine Center. 19% of the patients admitting to using cannabis regularly as part of their treatment, with less than half of them being medically prescribed it.
Of the patients who admitting to using cannabis, 90% said they administered it though inhalation. 45% said this was their exclusive method, whilst the rest would also ingest cannabis occasionally to mix things up a bit. 29% said they used a vaporizer.
This is by no means conclusive, as it is based on the feedback of patients. More research is needed into the area, but it looks like cannabis some serious implications into the treatment of back pain. That’s another entry for the list of marijuana fine qualities!
