Organic Spirulina Powder: An Aztec Superfood

Spirulina comprises three species of blue-green algae: Arthrospira platensis, Arthrospira fusiformis, and Arthrospira maxima. Now a popular supplement used all over the world, history suggests that spirulina served as a food source for the Aztecs and other ancient American cultures for many years. The Aztecs and other natives would harvest spirulina algae from local lakes and press it into highly nutritious cakes. Spirulina powder can be dissolved into a glass of water, combined with other ingredients, or added to foods like yoghurt. Recommended dose is 3–5g per day, preferably spread out over three doses.

Shelf-life: 3 years when properly stored. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze, and keep away from strong direct
light. Store out of reach of children.
