Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum): The Original Tobacco Plant
Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) is the original Tobacco plant that has its origin in the Americas. We can only speculate how Columbus’ men must have wondered about the strange habit by the natives blowing Tobacco smoke out of their noses and having quite a good time while doing so.
Today, Tobacco is grown almost everywhere and its main purpose is of course still the same as it was back in the 16th century, thanks to the curious property of nicotine which can have a relaxing but also energetic effect on the body. But the Tobacco plant makes also a wonderful ornamental plant that will develop big, fleshy leaves and grow pinkish flowers.
Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) loves it warm with average temperatures of 20–30 °C and you can grow it best in soil that doesn’t have high levels of nitrogen. Our fresh Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) seeds ensure a good germination rate and optimal growing success.

Schöne Pflanze
Vorgezogen im Zelt über den Winter. Abgehärtet und umgetopft. Im Frühjahr nach draussen gesetzt in 15 Liter Töpfe.
Höhe derzeit 150cm. Tabak schmeckt leicht und aromatisch. Der Anbau sowie die Verarbeitung auf jeden Fall ein schönes Hobby.
Von 20 Samen sind 5 gekeimt. Davon haben 2 Pflanzen es geschafft. Lag wohl eher an meinen Fähigkeiten (erster Anbau von Tabak).
Der Tabak lockt viele Schädlinge an und hält diese von anderen Pflanzen fern. Auf der Pflanze befinden sich viele tote Blattläuse. Vermutlich bekommt denen das Nikotin nicht ;).
Zufrieden
Die Samen sind ultra klein. Noch einmal ein ganzes Stück kleiner als Mohnsamen. Einzeln kaum handhabbar. Habe sie in einem Glas vorquellen lassen und das dann auf eine Schale mit Anzuchterde gekippt. Habe dann noch eine möglichst dünne Schicht Erde oben drauf gekrümelt. 12 sind gekommen 10 haben bis jetzt überlebt. Hoffe sie sind bald groß genug um nach draußen zu gehen.
Over all bin ich mit dem ersten Versuch zufrieden nächstes Jahr muss ich vier Wochen früher anfangen

hatte ein ganzes beet mit den pflanzen draußen im garten...von nur einem samen paket!

Gute Keinrate
Gute Erfahrung, viel Arbeit für Endprodukt.
Macht aber Spass guter Rauchgenuss.
Im Herbst 3 cm über Erde abgeschnitten, Wurzel hat den Winter überlebt und treibt im Frühjahr wieder aus. Im April bereits 40 hoch, wächst kompakter aber etwas kleinere Blätter.

...nicht zum Konsum gekauft, nur für Nikotinsud und die schönen Blüten. Selbstverständlich auch für die Sumsebiene!
