Echinopsis macrogona (trichocereus macrogonus) is a sacred cactus similar to the Peruvian Torch. This easy-to-grow cactus contains the alkaloid mescaline, a powerful psychedelic that can induce visions and other hallucinogenic effects. Along with others of the sacred cacti of Middle and South-America it has a long history of being used by shamans for spiritual and religious rituals.

More info

Echinopsis macrogona, sometimes also referred to as trichocereus macrogonus belongs to the sacred cacti that are native to South America. Similar in appearance to the more-known Peruvian Torch (echinopsis peruviana), this cactus contains the powerful psychoactive alkaloid mescaline and plays an important role in shamanic and spiritual rituals.

It is not exactly known where echinopsis acrogona originated from. Some say the cactus was discovered in Bolivia although no species of it can be found in Bolivia today. Others think that the cactus’ origin is possibly Brazil or Argentina.

Echinopsis macrogona (trichocereus macrogonus) looks similar to the Peruvian Torch. The cactus grows in columns and can reach a height of 3 meters with an average diameter of 3-5cm, some specimens can grow even wider. The cactus has a typical frosty, blueish colour.

Growing trichocereus macrogonus is very easy and comparable to as if you were to grow the San Pedro cactus or the Peruvian Torch. Echinopsis macrogona is a very hardy and resilient cactus that only needs the bare necessities to grow well. It needs very little water and then only in the hottest growing season. In summer it is sufficient if you water it once per week. Just make sure that you allow the soil to dry out between watering and the cactus will thrive.

    Ottime condizioni

Comme d'hab depuis de longues années Zamnesia est vraiment au top It has now been almost 3 years since I bought 2 Echinopsis macrogona in size S (10-11cm, so once planted, only 3-4 cm of the cutting come out of the ground). I followed Zamnesia's advice to the letter on growing these cuttings and frankly everything went smoothly. The cuttings started to grow very quickly. Today my cacti are 60cm high and keep growing day by day. As usual for many years Zamnesia is really on top

    Top Cacti
Vielen Dank Zamni :)
