10 Myths About Passing A Urine Drug Test

5 min

Passing a urine drug test is an unfortunate necessity for some stoners. Given how long it takes to rid the body of THC, many turn to age-old methods to cheat the screening. We break down the top 10 myths you should know before drinking a gallon of pickle juice in hopes of pissing clean.

Passing a urine drug test without putting down the pipe is possible, but by no means easy. On average, THC stays in your system for up to 30 days and sometimes even longer, depending on how much bud you smoke and how often you smoke it. With that said, if you need to piss clean and fast, preparation is vital. It's true; there are so many different ways to (try and) cheat a drug test, but not every single one of them is effective. In fact, most methods don't work at all, though lots of folks swear by them.

If you want to pass a drug test with flying colors, then the best thing you can do is try these methods out yourself at home, instead of relying on the advice of others. It's important to know what works, but even more important to know what doesn't. By purchasing one of our 5-panel drug test cards, you can discover firsthand which trick will lead to a negative and which will result in a big fat positive.

To skip the experiment altogether, you can always depend on CleanUrin. This stuff is as close to human urine as it gets, and will successfully pass most common laboratory tests. In case you're not sold on this particular product and wish to go another route, then no harm done. There are plenty of other options out there. But before you waste your time with some of them, here are the top ten myths about passing a urine test that you should know and avoid.

1. NIACIN FLUSHES THC OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM

1. Niacin Flushes Thc Out Of Your System

Niacin, aka nicotinic acid, is one of eight B vitamins sold at most pharmacies. Not only does it help regulate blood pressure, it also supports the body's natural metabolism. Some say niacin even helps you to relax and get a better night's rest, but it’s the flushing effect that draws weed smokers to it.

While niacin does, in fact, dilate blood vessels and detoxify the body, it doesn't eliminate all THC metabolites. Plus, its effects can be harmful when you take too much. In addition to dry, itchy skin, consuming a lot of niacin can cause fever and dehydration, leading you to drink gallons and gallons of water.

As a result of binging on H₂O, your urine sample will then become diluted. For someone looking to pass a drug test, this sounds great. But nowadays, urine tests are far more advanced than they were in the past. So nine times out of ten, dilution will only lead to rejection, forcing you to provide yet another urine sample.

2. CONSUMING VINEGAR AND PICKLE JUICE CAN MASK TRACES OF DRUGS

2. Consuming Vinegar And Pickle Juice Can Mask Traces Of Drugs

Wrong and wrong. On the contrary, drinking vinegar or pickle juice will not help you beat a drug test whatsoever, nor will adding either to a urine sample. As for vinegar, not only will it throw off your urine's pH balance, it will also cause diarrhoea. Not to mention, it doesn't exactly taste all that pleasant.

Pickle juice is said to contain acid that can both cleanse urine and dissolve drug metabolites. However, the only acid found in pickle juice is vinegar, which again, does no good at all. Also, there's quite a bit of salt found in pickle juice. And salt makes you unbelievably thirsty, especially when you ingest high amounts of it. Naturally, you're going to reach straight for the water (and lots of it) to quench your thirst. Then before too long, your urine will become too diluted to pass a test.

3. SPORTS AND ENERGY DRINKS DISGUISE MARIJUANA METABOLITES

3. Sports And Energy Drinks Disguise Marijuana Metabolites

If you check out any online weed forum, then you'll come across at least one or two pot smokers who drank a Red Bull or Gatorade to pass a drug test. And they will swear that it works like a charm. But the truth is, this is just another method that results in dilution. There's nothing inside these drinks that can eliminate or even disguise marijuana metabolites. They can only provide you with a boost of energy and replace essential substances like electrolytes.

4. FALSE NEGATIVES ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOLDENSEAL

4. False Negatives Are Possible With Goldenseal

Possible? Yeah right. Goldenseal extract is no different than any other diuretic out there. In fact, a lot of labs test for this specific product today. If any traces of it pop up in your urine, then that could mean trouble, especially if you're attempting to pass a drug test for the courts or a job. Moreover, there's no real evidence to suggest that Goldenseal has any effect on THC or other drug metabolites.

5. PECTIN PREVENTS DRUG METABOLITES FROM ENTERING YOUR URINE

5. Pectin Prevents Drug Metabolites From Entering Your Urine

In case you've never heard of pectin, it's a soluble gelatinous polysaccharide that's present in ready-to-eat fruits. When extracted, pectin is used as a setting agent in jams and jellies. For the most part, folks looking to cheat a drug test will pour a whole packet into a bottle of Gatorade and chug it. Then, they will wash it down with some water.

If you're being tested strictly for cannabis, then pectin can somewhat help since it binds with fatty acids and transfers them to the bowel, keeping drug metabolites away from your urine. However, this effect likely isn't strong enough to make you piss clean. Sure, maybe when you combine it with other methods, such as water, but not by itself. If you were to try that though, your urine would likely wind up becoming too diluted to use anyway.

6. ADDING CHEMICAL ADULTERANTS TO YOUR URINE SAMPLE WORKS AND WILL NOT SHOW UP ON A DRUG TEST

6. Adding Chemical Adulterants To Your Urine Sample Works And Will Not Show Up On A Drug Test

Before you think about adding certain chemical adulterants like bleach to your urine sample to beat a drug test, you should learn the facts first. For starters, bleach does not affect THC metabolites when dropped into your urine cup. As for Visine, which most people assume will clear up your pee, all this does is cause foam. Obviously, if you hand in a foaming sample of piss, then the lab will know something is up. Another famous chemical adulterant folks try to use is ammonia, but that doesn't help either. Ammonia alters your urine's pH levels. That's about it.

By far the most frequently used chemical adulterant to pass a drug test is salt. But there are two reasons why you shouldn't dare. First, salt won't completely dissolve in urine, meaning someone will spot it clear as day resting at the bottom of your sample. Second, salt increases the sample’s specific gravity to a level outside the body's normal range. In other words, if they're testing for it, then you will fail. Lastly, there's Drain-O, which is said to cause false negatives. In reality, Drain-O changes your urine's pH level and gives it a bluish tint. If that's not a dead giveaway that you've cheated your drug test, then what is?

7. TAKING OVER-THE-COUNTER DECONGESTANTS CONTAINING PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE HELPS FALSIFY A URINE SAMPLE

7. Taking Over-the-counter Decongestants Containing Phenylpropanolamine Helps Falsify A Urine Sample

Some people needing to pass a drug test will turn to phenylpropanolamine products for false negatives. But this sympathomimetic agent can actually cause you to test positive for amphetamines. Also, it puts you at risk for hemorrhagic stroke, which is precisely why the FDA issued a public health advisory against its use back in 2000.

8. IF YOU DRINK ENOUGH, DIURETICS WILL ELIMINATE TOXINS FROM YOUR SYSTEM

8. If You Drink Enough, Diuretics Will Eliminate Toxins From Your System

Flushing your system with diuretics can work in that it will reduce the concentration of drug metabolites in your urine. But no amount of water or any other diuretic can eliminate them altogether, so the risk is still there. And again, diuretics cause dilution, which will either result in you having to provide another urine sample or worse, you'll fail the test, and that will be the end of that. Youcould be better off using Quick Flush, which both cleanses the body of chemicals and delivers boosts of energy. It's not 100% guaranteed to work, but it will surely help. And if all else fails, you'll at least be able to say you feel clean and light as a feather.

9. YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH SNEAKING WATER INTO YOUR URINE SAMPLE

9. You Can Get Away With Sneaking Water Into Your Urine Sample

While in the bathroom preparing your sample, you may be tempted to mix some water into your urine sample using the sink or toilet. But if you're being watched, that's quite risky. Plus, most testing facilities no longer provide sinks since many have tried this trick before. Even if they do, the water in the tank typically contains a bluing agent. Not to mention, the water has to be a precise temperature to pass. And again, whether diluted internally or externally, samples are generally rejected.

If you have the guts to go as far as diluting your sample in the direct vicinity of the laboratory technician, you just might be ballsy enough to use a fake penis! There are products on the market that come fully equipped with synthetic urine. And ladies, there are synthetic urine sets for you to use on the spot as well. Attempt at your own risk!

10. IF YOU FAIL A DRUG TEST, CLAIM YOU WERE AROUND PEOPLE THAT SMOKE WEED, AND THEY'LL UNDERSTAND

10. If You Fail A Drug Test, Claim You Were Around People That Smoke Weed, And They'Ll Understand

Just to clarify, trying to convince anyone that you failed your drug test because of secondhand marijuana smoke will never work. Ever. To begin with, simply standing beside someone smoking pot won't cause any THC to end up in your system unless they blow it directly into your mouth. Even then, hardly any THC would get through to you. Also, every drug test has a cutoff level. For urine, it's 50 nanograms per millilitre. That being said, it would be impossible for someone to reach that level just by passively inhaling cannabis smoke. So to save yourself the embarrassment, never use this excuse.
