Impressed, Chemdog asked them to send him some seeds to cultivate on the East Coast. It was this initial meeting that purportedly sparked the story of the Diesel we know and love today. That said, it wasn't until 1993 that Diesel really came to fruition. Chemdog continued to breed the dog bud himself, leading to increased exposure, and with that, a name change. Chemdog met another cannabis enthusiast known as AJ, who would refer to the strain as “Diesel”, an affectionate term for good weed.

As more people got their hands on the strain, there was an accidental cross-pollination with a Super Skunk variety, resulting in the world-famous Sour Diesel, a hugely popular variation of the Diesel formula.
